EVERYTHING'S AMAZING and NOBODY'S HAPPY

I caught this video on Facebook and I thought it was really funny and insightful.  We are so spoiled and a bunch of bellyachers!

RED CARPET OSCARS 2009

So many favorites this year!!  Let's get started and don't forget to leave a comment!

Best Dressed
Anne Hathaway is total perfection!  This gown is so dreamy and I love her!
Although she looks awkward posing in this picture I thought this vintage gown was heaven.
Natalie Portman looks divine in this pinky lilac-y colored dress.  I love the embroidery.  Her makeup looked harsh up close but the gown made up for it.
Freida Pinto...I adore this color.  Such a standout in a sea of cream and black.  I especially love the neckline.
Could this fabric be any yummier??  Taraji does it up right and I love it!  The necklace is killer!
I love it when Tina Fey looks this great.  Smart, funny women are gorgeous!  I like that the train is not a severe fishtail (hate those!).
I think this dress is totally age inappropriate but it is a fairy tale.  The belt gives it a more modern look and I like that.
Jenny Craig is paying off bigtime for Queen Latifah and she is gorgeous.  Glamorous and flattering.

ON THE FENCE... I just couldn't make up my mind about these dresses.  I really want to like them but something just isn't right.Amy Adam's necklace is unbelievable and I love it with the silhouette but something about that bodice is making me queasy.  Thoughts??
As you know, Kate is my absolute favorite but I was disappointed with this dress.  I don't think it's bad, it's just boring and looks matronly on her.  I was also disturbed by her helmet hair.  How did they get it to stay so stiff?  It didn't move at all (not cool).
I love me some Reese Witherspoon but I just can't deal with this dress.  I can't put her in the worst dress category because I love her too much.  That dress is just too busy in the front.

And the ROTTEN TOMATOES...
Someone needs to put House of Dereon and Tina Knowles out of their misery.  Oh, Beyonce, can't you tell your mama no??
Bridget Fonda is completely out of touch.  There is no way she left her house thinking "I look good".  She had to have gotten this at Dress Barn.  Thrifty but hideous.
I am so sad about Jessica Biel in this dress.  She looks like she is wearing a bath towel and the length is awkward.  I feel like I need to wipe my hands on that fabric hanging in front.  So sad :(
Oh my Holy Hannah Montana!  This dress belongs in a museum not on a 15 year old.  Very Glinda the Good Witch.  Me no likey.
R-Patz at the Oscars.  You're Welcome!!!

Editing to clarify that Rob is DEFINITELY not in the rotten tomatoes category.  Just a bonus!

CHILDREN'S MARDI GRAS PARADE

On Saturday we went to a really cool birthday party for one of Sophie's classmates.  His name is Brice and he is pictured above with Sophie.  His birthday party was at the Rajun Cajun baseball field.  The kids were treated to the game and hotdogs and cake and Brice got to throw out the first ball of the game.  Sophie thought it was so neat and was thrilled that the whole thing made Brice happy.  During the party the Children's Mardi Gras parade passed by so we got to enjoy catching beads without fighting the crowds.
Andrew waiting for beads.
Lillianne looking delirious after all the beading catching.
Throw me somthin', mista!

HAPPY PRESIDENT'S DAY!!

Smithsonian Displays Obama Cupcake Art

POSTED: Sunday, February 15, 2009

A double portrait of Presidents Barack Obama and Abraham Lincoln faces the prospect of being eaten away -- not by the ravages of time, but by visitors to the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington.

Created by artist Zilly Rosen, the portrait titled "A New Birth of Freedom," is made of more than 5,600 yellow cupcakes with different colored icing. The 9-foot by 15-foot portrait is on display at the museum.

The public is invited to "de-install" the portrait by eating the cupcakes.

The museum said this is Rosen's second cupcake portrait of Obama. Rosen, who runs the Buffalo, N.Y. bakery Zillycakes, constructed a 1,200-cupcake portrait of Obama in November and set it up in his campaign headquarters in Buffalo.

LILLIANNE IS 3!!!

Lilliane's handiwork on the bottom of the cake.  I thought the cake  turned out so cute.
Blowing out the candles.  Estelle looks like she is trying to help out a bit.
Lillie got a tea set from Gracie and Estelle.
The birthday girl.
Estelle and Sophie.
Aiden making a silly face.
Baby Luke and Estelle.
Estelle, Sophie, and Lillianne.
Karlie looks like she enjoyed her piece of birthday cake.
Smiley Kaitlyn.

Lillianne turned three years old this weekend.  I am so sad because I don't have any more babies in the house.  She's a big girl now.  Lillianne is a very sweet little girl and she is always hugging me and saying, "I love you, Mama!".  She is a very smart girl and she is very observant and always asking questions (always!).  She loves to play with her brother and sister and is starting to learn how to share without being forced (we are really working on that one!).  Lillie loves to sing and dance and always says that she wants to go to dance class.  She loves to play dress up with Sophie.  Lillianne is a very good eater and especially loves her vegetables.  Her daddy and I are so happy to have her in our family.  She is a joy to have around and she has a very strong spirit.  We love her very much.

BUILD-A-BEAR BIRTHDAY

Granny's present to Lillianne was a trip to Build-A-Bear.  She and Sophie chose Panda bears.  Lillie named hers Kun Foo Panna (Kung Fu Panda).  She chose a pink t-shirt with the sparkly Disney princesses on it.  She was very excited to choose the heart and put her foot on the fluff pedal.  It was very sweet.

CHANNELING TEDDY ROOSEVELT

Sophie as Teddy Roosevelt.  She's holding the stuffed animal because the "Teddy" bear was name after TR (in case you didn't already know that).
The kids in Sophie's gifted/talented class really did a great job.  They got a kick out of making silly faces for the camera.  Their characters clockwise from the left are Teddy Roosevelt, Amelia Earhart,  Oprah, Laura Ingalls Wilder, Betsy Ross, Betsy Ross (popular gal), Queen Elizabeth I, George Washington, Walt Disney, and Harry Houdini.

Sophie's G/T class was asked to choose an historical figure for a biography project.  Of the million tasks that were assigned (seriously ya'll, when did 2nd grade become as hard as my junior year in high school???) one of them was to present themselves to the class as that person in full costume.  Duane and I had stars in our eyes as we set out to reincarnate Teddy (ok...honestly, Duane was kind of psycho about it.  Not only is TR his favorite American president but he reads BOOKS about him).  Anyway, Sophie did her part by reading a TR biography and learning about his childhood and how he became President and the importance of his presidency.  Teddy was a nature boy and loved him some outdoors so we decided on the Teddy Roosevelt Naturalist costume.  Duane hit ebay for the glasses, wig, and 'stache and I hit Goodwill for the safari shirt.  The straw hat was spray painted and the leather bag was also a Goodwill find.  Duane and I were both Theatre majors and we take this stuff seriously (besides the kid of one of the Imagination Movers on Disney is in Sophie's class and we couldn't be outdone by somebody in the "biz").  The parents were invited to watch the presentations and Sophie volunteered to go first and she knocked it outta the park!  After her two minute talk she even fielded questions from the kids and totally improvised a couple of answers.  She really had a blast doing this thing.  I wish I had been as studious and outgoing as she is when I was her age!

BAD, BAD TOOTH FAIRY

When Sophie came into the kitchen this morning she was sobbing uncontrollably.  I was immediately panicked and thought maybe she was sick or her appendix had burst or some such thing.  When she could finally speak coherently she told me that the Tooth Fairy had not left her any money.  OH NO!  The Tooth Fairy had forgotten that she lost that tooth last night that had been hanging on for dear life for nearly a week.  The Tooth Fairy was so busy watching TV and wasting time on the computer that she forgot about my sweet little girl who will probably be "too big" for the Tooth Fairy the next time she loses a tooth.  The Tooth Fairy has no regard for childhood innocence and delicate feelings.  Who do I report this lame person to?  Something has got to be done!
