WEEKEND IN HOUSTON

Houston Texas Temple.
Swimming at the hotel.
Sophie the scientist at the Children's Museum.
Water area of the museum.
Crazy for Twister.
Andrew building streetcars.

We decided to take a little road trip to Houston last weekend and we had a great time.  Duane needed a change of pace so we decided we would take a babysitter along and enjoy a nice dinner on Friday night without the kids at Fogo de Chao.  If you are ever near this place and are a carnivore I highly recommend it.  The food is absolutely wonderful.  On Saturday, the girls had a swim at the hotel while Duane took Andrew to a nearby park for a train ride.  Later we went to the Houston Children's Museum and the Galleria.  We also took a ride to see the Houston Temple.  Lots of fun and when you take a nanny along the enjoyment factor quadruples!

EAGLE OF THE WEEK

Sophie has been chosen as Woodvale Elementary Eagle of the Week.  A student who exemplifies the Eagle standards is chosen every week and his/her bio sheet and favorite pictures of themselves and their accomplishments are posted on the bulletin board in the front hall of the school.  Sophie tries very hard to be respectful and helpful in her classes and to always be on her best behavior at school.  Perhaps I should implement the "Waihi of the Week" program at home for similar results???

WORLD'S BIGGEST CUPCAKE

(08-16) 11:04 PDT Manchester, N.H. (AP) --

A 1,224-pound triple vanilla cupcake with pink frosting has set a record as the world's largest.

The sugary behemoth was unveiled Saturday at the Woodward Dream Cruise classic cars event in Royal Oak, Mich.

A Guinness World Records adjudicator was on hand to certify the cupcake's girth. It was more than eight times the size of the previous record holder.

The colossal cupcake took 12 hours to bake and included 800 eggs and 200 pounds each of sugar and flour.

Slices of the cupcake were served in exchange for donations to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure breast cancer organization.

Ryan Abood, owner of New Hampshire-based Gourmetgiftbaskets.com who made the cupcake, told the Detroit Free Press that it clocked in at an estimated 2 million calories.

O HAPPY DAY!

I totally love and enjoy my children but Mama loves her some school time!  It's been a long 2 and a half months but I made it.  Andrew is starting a new school in an autism class with only 5 children and I am very optimistic about the progress he is going to make in this new environment.  It will also be nice to have someone else run after him for a few hours a day.  Sophie was so excited this morning to get to her classroom.  We were a tad late as we had to find a parking space so I could help her lug in her 5 bags (yes, I said FIVE) of school supplies.  It is ridiculous what we spend on those school supply lists!  So now it's just me and Lillianne during the day and we can shop and have lunch and take naps until the big kids come home.  Hobby Lobby is calling!

BYE, BYE MILEY

No more Miley for my almost 9 year old daughter.  This is ridiculous and so disappointing.  This girl is 16, right???  Since when is a low cut top and pole dancing okay for a teenager?  Bye, bye Miley.

SYTYCD FINALE

OK...so it's over and Jeanine won. She was fantastic and I am completely satisfied with her win. So here are my three favorite dances of the season. I would have included Jeanine's dance with Jason (the one with the necklace) but I thought it was a little too racy for my blog. Enjoy and I can hardly wait a whole month until it starts up again! Also, I don't know why my sentences are being chopped up. Weird.

THOUGHT I WAS OVER IT

I thought I was "over" Twilight but these new pics have got me pumped!  Can't wait to see the movie and so sad my Twilight Bud will be seeing it in Idaho instead of here with me.
